Your team, work duties and areas of responsibility
The MAX IV Scientific Data group develops and supports software projects for data acquisition and analysis from the beamline experimental stations. One core activity is the operation of X-ray detectors and their integration into the MAX IV control and data acquisition system. The MicroMAX beamline have recently acquired a 9Megapixel “Jungfrau” detector from the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland. For safe operation this bespoke system requires control of its operating conditions in terms of temperature and humidity monitoring and cooling control. We are looking for a student to work on the implementation of this environmental and safety control.
To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications
- Be following a university curriculum in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, e-Sciences, or similar field and completed at least 120hp (equivalent to two year's fulltime studies).
- Fundamentals of programming in a high-level language (Python, C/C++) in a Linux environment
- Be comfortable working in an English-speaking group
One or more of the below are seen as merits
- Any experience controlling hardware using e.g. Python over a remote (serial) interface
- Basic experience with collaborative software development
