Would you like to work at the brightest lightsource in the world?
MAX IV is looking for a person who will be an assistant within the SAM team (Survey, alignment, and mechanical stability).
The person will participate in the 2026 summer shut down activities. The work requires focus, patience, and attention to details. The tasks are hands on and involve being able to work in tight space. The person will gain survey and alignment techniques, experience in operating laser tracker, 3D scanner as well as basic knowledge about MAX IV machine and beamlines.
Full time: 100% starting from 15 June and ends 31 July (both included).
Your team
The survey, alignment, and mechanical stability (SAM) team is part of Engineering I group, responsible for providing the support for the accelerators and the beamlines within the survey, alignment, and mechanical stability fields.
Your main work tasks will be
- Participate in spatial metrology network survey of various sections of the MAX IV machine using a laser tracker.
- Perform 3D scanning of different parts of MAX IV machine.
- Align and realign components within the MAX IV machine and beamlines.
To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications
- The applicant must have studied at least two years of an engineering degree.
- The role primarily involves hands-on work and requires teamwork.
- English speaking and understanding are required.

- Practical experience of working with accelerators or equipment related to synchrotron light research.
- Hands-on experience in surveying or alignment.
- ·Hands-on experience working with coordinate measurement instrument such as CMM, laser tracker, theodolite.
- Hands-on experience working with 3D laser scanner.
- As a person you are using initiative, flexible, able to cooperate and service minded.
