As part of our interdisciplinary Experiment Control Group, you will work on software used every day at worldclass photon sources such as PETRA III, FLASH, and the upcoming PETRA IV facility. About your role:
- Integrate scientific equipment, sensors, and hardware into the TANGO Controls ecosystem (Python/C++)
- Develop device abstractions and communication layers (RS232, TCP/IP, Modbus, GPIB)
- Implement modern datastreaming concepts (ZMQ, Redis Streams, inhouse technologies)
- Collect and translate requirements from scientists and engineers into robust software designs
- Apply modern software engineering practices (code reviews, Git workflows, testing)
- Contribute to active opensource and community driven projects
