Mer information
The Radiation Protection (RP) Group of the Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Protection (HSE) Unit ensures that personnel on the CERN sites and the public are protected from potentially harmful effects of ionizing radiation linked to CERN activities. The duties of CERN’s Radiation Protection Group include the assessment of radiation hazards from operating accelerators and experiments, the definition of protective measures as well as the legally required monitoring of the exposure of radiation workers and public to ionising radiation.
As a Radiation Protection Technician in the RP Accelerator and Sites Section (RP-AS) you will:
- Assess radiological risks at workplaces in accelerator tunnels, experimental areas, laboratories, storage areas and workshops of CERN, elaborate dose prevention and dose minimisation measures, including the radiological characterisation of potentially radioactive materials and waste.
- Perform radiation measurements in various, static and dynamic high energy, multi-particle radiation fields.
- Perform work and dose planning and elaborate protection measures as well as work procedures.
- Evaluate, analyse, and follow up operational dosimetry data.
Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in operational radiation protection, radiation protection instrumentation and legislation.
- Proven skills in documenting radiological risk assessments and measurements.
Technical competencies:
- Knowledge of regulatory framework and best practice in radiation protection.
- Knowledge of dosimetry in mixed radiation fields: extensive knowledge of measurement techniques of ionizing radiation.
- Knowledge of personal dosimetry.
- Knowledge of Radiation Safety.
