Mer information
For our HED instrument we are looking for an PhD Student for X-ray Phase Contrast Imaging - part-time (29,25 hrs/week).
The Position
- Contribute to the advancement of X-ray Phase Contrast Imaging (XPCI) techniques for diamond anvil cell research at the High Energy Density (HED) instrument and/or later at the Hard X-ray Science port (HXS).
- Prepare samples in diamond anvil cells, perform high pressure experiments at large scale facilities using XPCI and X-ray diffraction techniques, and characterize samples using in-house capabilities such as scanning electron microscopy
- Investigate the dynamics of melting, recrystallization, and liquid immiscibility in silicate samples using laser heated diamond anvil cells to reach lower mantle conditions
- Receive comprehensive training in XPCI data analysis approaches, and utilize these methods to analysis XPCI data collected at high pressures and temperatures
- Participate in at least one experiment at the European XFEL, as well as additional experiments at other synchrotron facilities
- Interpret data from XPCI experiments, write up the results in a publication, and present the findings at scientific conferences
- Complete and defend doctoral thesis
