The Position

  • Develop and optimize two-color imaging methodologies for coherent diffraction imaging (CDI) experiments;
  • Plan, prepare, and perform CDI experiments at the European XFEL;
  • Analyze experimental CDI data and contribute to the development of reconstruction and analysis tools;
  • Work at the interface of quantum physics, detector instrumentation, and computational methods;
  • Collaborate across experimental, instrumental, and computational disciplines;
  • Publish findings in leading scientific journals and present them at international conferences;
  • Write a doctoral thesis.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in physics, applied physics, photonics, engineering, computer science, or a closely related field;
  • Strong interest in ultrafast science, X-ray imaging, plasma dynamics, or nanoscale physics;
  • Solid knowledge of experimental physics and data analysis;
  • Experience with scientific programming, preferably in Python, C/C++, or a similar language;
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in an interdisciplinary and international research environment;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
