This position will contribute to the development and deployment of robotic solutions for experimental facilities at CERN, supporting installation, maintenance, and intervention activities in constrained environments. The role is embedded within the HL-LHC project, supporting the robotic activities required for the installation and maintenance of the Vacuum Assembly for Experimental area (VAX) in the CMS and ATLAS experiments. You will oversee the development, testing, and commissioning of the CRANEbot robotic system, contribute to the preparation, testing and execution of the ATLAS shielding modification, implementing offline industrial robot control for machining operations and define and support intervention procedures.

Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria

  • You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State. Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani and Lithuanian nationals for positions with a 2026 start date, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
  • By the application deadline, you have a master’s degree with 2 to 6 years of professional experience since graduation or a PhD with a maximum of 3 years of professional experience since graduation. You are not eligible with only a bachelor’s degree.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
