The Cryogenics (TE-CRG) group, within CERN's Technology Department (TE), is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and produce a prototype detector module for the ALLEGRO ECAL Project.
ALLEGRO is a general-purpose detector concept for the future FCC-ee accelerator, featuring a noble-liquid electromagnetic calorimeter as one of its central detectors.
As a Mechanical Engineer in the TE-CRG/CL section, you will:
- Finalise the engineering design studies and carry out thermo-mechanical calculations for the ECAL prototype.
- Coordinate interfaces between prototype components.
- Produce prototype components.
- Assemble the prototype.
- Perform quality control and assembly tests to validate the design.
- Contribute to the final production and assembly of the prototype for testing in a particle beam.
Eligibility criteria:
- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
- You have a professional background in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) and have either:
- a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
- or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
