Mer information
The MEA2 group (survey & alignment) is responsible for developing and implementing high precision geodetic measurements solutions for accelerator-based research. We support the installation and precise alignment of accelerator components and experiments. Additionally, we conduct monitoring and deformation measurements on buildings and facilities. Furthermore, we carry out stake-out and control surveys, develop specialised measurement systems for accelerator surveying, and advise scientists from various disciplines on all spatial measurements. Our work is characterised by interdisciplinary collaboration, scientific precision, and the application of state-of-the-art technologies to meet the highest research requirements at the DESY research campus.
With the PETRA IV project, DESY is launching one of the most ambitious and innovative large-scale research projects worldwide. PETRA IV, the most brilliant synchrotron radiation source of the next generation, will be the ultimate 4D X-ray microscope, setting new standards in precision and performance. To implement the project, we are looking for motivated employees who want to get involved in a complex project with international appeal.More information about PETRA IV: PETRA IV
About your role:
Developing new geodetic measurement methods for PETRA IV, adapting existing procedures, and enhancing their accuracy and efficiency. This includes:
- Designing, implementing, and testing high-precision measurement and alignment systems for particle accelerators, grounded in scientific principles
- Optimising existing measurement methods for precision, cost-effectivness, and automatisation
- The measurement sytems used are primarily, but not exclusively, laser trackers and close-range photogrammetry
- Planning and analysing high-accuracy reference coordinate systems as the foundation for PETRA IV component alignment
- Your work will be supported by structured onboarding, individual guidance, and collaboration with experienced colleagues, ensuring you successfully meet the unique demands of the PETRA IV alignment
