To help us realise our goal of being the most powerful neutron source in the world, we are now looking for an Automation & Control System Engineer to join the Automation Section, located within our Integrated Control Systems (ICS) Division.
The scope of the Automation Section is to design, develop, deliver and maintain control systems based on industrial automation technology such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and to integrate them with the EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System) software infrastructure. The Automation Section develops and maintains also the control system operator interfaces (OPIs), as well as the archive and alarm configurations of the PLC-based control systems.
As an Automation and Control System Engineer at ESS your responsibilities will be the following:
- Lead the development, integration, verification, and validation of control systems, ensuring compliance with relevant procedures and standards.
- Define schedule and costs while exploring innovative approaches and conceptualizing solutions.
- Document design/development.
- Review other engineering designs.
- Stay current with emerging start-of-the-art technologies.
- Collaborate with system owners to facilitate successful deployment of integrated control systems.
- Provide technical support to team members on PLC technologies and EPICS integration.
- Develop and maintain key control projects, including the new PLC/EPICS Integrator tool.
This position is a full-time, permanent role with a 6-month probationary period. It is based at the brand-new ESS campus in Lund, Sweden. We would like this position to start as soon as practically possible.
